Behavioural Ecology / Cognition Current research is on flexible aggressive mimicry of Stenolemus assassin bugs that hunt spiders by emulating prey in webs. Previous research involves contests, mating systems and cannibalism in spiders. Lab Affiliation: Phil Taylor For Further Information: http://johnprenter.googlepages.com/ |

Behavioural Ecology Focusing on the function and evolution of colour signals, my research addresses a number of different areas, including genetics, behaviour, physiology, and life-history trade-offs, within evolutionary biology and behavioural ecology.

Behavioural Ecology My research primarily involves the investigation of behavioural strategies in cooperatively breeding systems. I am principal investigator of the Pied Babbler Research Project in the southern Kalahari desert, South Africa. The population consists of 12-14 fully habituated groups of wild pied babblers. I currently conduct research on helper investment strategies, maternal investment, ontogeny, parent-offspring conflict, sexual selection, bioacoustics and cognition. Lab Affliation: Simon Griffith For Further Information: http://www.fitzpatrick.uct.ac.za/docs/piedbabb.html |

Molecular Ecology I am interested in the combination of molecular and ecological data to study interactions among populations and individuals. My past research focused on characterisation of genetic changes associated with individuals on the edge of range expansions. My current work focuses on the use of molecular data to better understand mating systems and population dynamics in a variety of passerine bird species. Lab Affiliation: Simon Griffith |

Behavioural Ecology I work on the behavioural mechanisms that underlie the ability of individuals to avoid hybridising with other species. I am working on the grass finches of the savannah country in tropical northern Australia. Lab Affiliation: Simon Griffith |

Applied and Behavioural Ecology Studies insect behaviour to enhance insect population management and conservation. Currently working on the chemical ecology, mating behaviour, and nutrition of Queensland fruit fly to optimise management using the sterile insect technique.
